Partnering for innovation: Linking science and
business via new university degrees

The PSM is a recently minted master's level degree in the U.S. and (in Holland called the SBB), designed to give science students an overview of business, technology transfer, intellectual property, regulatory affairs, and finance so that they can enter business and government as "professionals" not PhD researchers. Innovation, as practiced globally involves multi-disciplinary teams and personnel who can interface among researchers, finance professionals, lawyers, and the public; government, likewise. There are currently more than 100 programs in over 50 U.S. colleges and universities offering PSM degrees.
