Teachers in any field, be it language or otherwise are constantly having to re-negotiate their own cultural identities. Woods (1996), Freeman and Johnson (1998), and Johnson and Golombek (2002) have influenced this researcher in the investigation and documentation of ESL teachers' cultural identities. The presenter will outline her on-going research in this topic, and invite the audience to participate in discussion and hands-on activities.

This workshop will enhance the participants' ability to reflect upon their own cultural identities, and how they influence their teaching persona.

It is envisaged that topics of self-awareness, multilingualism. second language acquisition, intercultural communication and core values will predominate in these activities.
