|The 2006 Conference Committee takes great pleasure in extending
an invitation to you to participate in the 2006 HERDSA International
Conference to be held at the University of Western Australia in Perth
from July 10 – 13. The University campus, located on the pristine
Swan River, provides a beautiful backdrop for the conference with its immaculate
grounds and the purpose built University Club.
The campus is only ten minutes away from the city center, where a range of hotel and self-contained options have been arranged. Buses will transport participants to and from the conference each day. Other transportation is readily available from the campus.
The Conference promises to be an innovative and very exciting exploration of the future of higher education. The international audience will comprise academics, researchers, leaders and managers, students and other higher education stakeholders. As an inclusive society, HERDSA offers a rare opportunity to explore the changing face of higher education in a more holistic manner, while also allowing more focused exploration through the conference streams and workshops. Refereed presentations will be rigorously vetted to ensure the highest quality papers are selected for presentation.
A major innovation will be the pre-conference colloquia to be held on Sunday July 9th. Three colloquia are planned, enabling an exploration of higher education leadership, teaching and learning, and research. The colloquia have been designed as opportunities for interested participants to explore emerging issues in a highly interactive manner. They will include some key presenters to stimulate thought, along with extended opportunities for participants to share and discuss their own collective experience. The colloquia are also intended to assist participants to identify potential research collaborators in common areas of interest.
Perth is renowned for its hospitality – the Conference will include a lavish cocktail reception and superb culminating dinner. It will also offer opportunities for various disciplines to meet on other evenings to share insights and strategies. Pre and post conference tours are also available to further sample Western Australia’s superb wine, food and natural wonders.
We look forward to welcoming you to our exciting and challenging 2006 conference. Don’t miss out on an opportunity to reflect and review your own Critical Vision for Higher Education.
See you in July!
