Professor Carmel McNaught

Professor Carmel McNaught is Director and Professor of Learning Enhancement in the Centre for Learning Enhancement And Research (CLEAR) at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Since the early 1970s, Carmel has worked in higher education in Australasia and southern Africa in the fields of chemistry, science education, second language learning, eLearning, and higher education curriculum and policy matters. Current research interests include evaluation of innovation in higher education, strategies for embedding learning support into the curriculum, and understanding the broader implementation of the use of technology in higher education. She is actively involved in several professional organisations, is on the editorial board of 12 international journals, is an auditor for AUQA, and an auditor and accreditor in Hong Kong. She is a prolific author with over 280 academic publications. Abstract.

Associate Professor Gary Poole

Associate Professor Gary Poole is the Director of the Centre for Teaching and Academic Growth and the Institute for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning at the University of British Columbia. Gary has won a 3M Teaching Fellowship, which is a Canadian national teaching award, an Excellence in Teaching award from Simon Fraser University, and a Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal for contributions to Higher Education. Gary was the President of the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education from 2000 to 2004, and is President-Elect for the International Society for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning. He is the co-author of "Effective Teaching with Technology in Higher Education" and "The Psychology of Health and Health Care: A Canadian Perspective." Abstract.
