Quest: Learning from Teaching in China

Abstract

This poster presentation explores the challenges of shifting from test-based learning to student-centred discovery learning, aimed at developing graduate attributes required in the 21st century, in particular for tourism, events, hospitality and related industries in China. A personal narrative of the learning journey in China since 2000 serves as the background to showcase teaching and learning strategies that engage students creatively and critically to attain 'deep' learning outcomes, supported by evidence from writing and management classes, and linked to specific graduate attributes.
