Welcome to HERDSA 2022
The HERDSA Executive and Victorian Branch are delighted to invite you to join us at HERDSA 2022, the annual conference of the Higher Education Research and Development Society of Australasia (HERDSA), to be held in Melbourne Australia, 27-30 June 2022.
HERDSA 2022 will inspire: drawing together experience, analysis and insight in a rapidly changing environment. The disruption of the global pandemic has challenged our assumptions and prompted deep reflection and creative solutions. We are changing the way we work, learn and interact, but we are building from strength.
HERDSA is a scholarly society committed to the advancement of higher education and promoting the development of policy, practice and the study of teaching and learning. Research and development in higher education, in which we are all involved, is the foundation of learning that equips students to flourish in a changing world. HERDSA 2022 is the place to meet your colleagues and debate the latest ideas in higher education.
Showcasing contemporary practice, HERDSA 2022 will combine vibrant face-to-face and virtual streams to welcome participants wherever you are to friendly and collegial activities. The physical conference will be held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, conveniently located on the banks of the iconic Yarra River in South Wharf. Only 20 minutes from Melbourne Airport, and close to trains, trams and buses.
HERDSA 2022 has a broad focus on scholarship, research and development in higher education to welcome the diversity of people, topics and interests that make up our community. Our conference program will be organised across broad categories:
- Governance and policy
- Teaching, learning and the student experience
- Pathways and partnerships
- Innovation and research
- Professional learning for academic practice
- Values, justice and integrity.
We welcome you to explore these themes, cross boundaries and present your scholarship as it best suits your context and work. You can reflect on the sector’s responses and discoveries, share successes or stimulate conversation by proposing suggestions for a bright future.
We encourage contributions from the whole higher education sector including private and non-university higher education providers, the vocational education and training sector, educators, researchers, students, administrators and policy makers, government, community and industry partners, and our culturally diverse communities. We also welcome international delegates who can provide insights from other contexts and cultures.
HERDSA acknowledges the Bunurong Boon Wurrung and Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung peoples of the Eastern Kulin Nation as the traditional owners of the land on which the physical conference is being held, and the First Nations peoples of all the lands and waterways from which our online delegates will join us. We pay respect to the Elders, past, present and emerging, and thank them for their care of the land.
We look forward to welcoming you to HERDSA 2022, face-to-face and virtually.
